Bingo BallsChocolate makes you fat. Wine is bad for you. Seems everything we enjoy is naughty. But could it be the case with bingo? A recent report by the Guardian newspaper suggests that hospital patients could benefit from activities to alleviate stressful conditions … and one of those happens to be bingo.

The British Medical Association has conducted a survey revealing that keeping patients occupied with activities like bingo can reduce the need for painkillers, prevent depression and contribute to a speedier recovery. This in turn will benefit the NHS as patients spend a shorter amount of time in hospital, reducing waiting lists and reducing the financial burden.

Meanwhile, once patients are recuperating back at home, the game of online bingo could become a blessing. The games provide mental stimulation, company and allow players to be distracted from their illness.

As long as a patient has an Internet connection and computer, they have access to over 300 online bingo sites in the UK alone, making a fun and exciting playground where they can meet new people and forget their worries.

And of course, playing online bingo can be done from the comfort of one’s own home, so if a patient is immobile, or housebound, it is also a blessing.

Who would have thought that online bingo was Florence Nightingale in disguise?
